Winter Vetch -- Vicia villosa
Family Fabaceae (Legume family)
This vetch is common along roadsides and in fields. It has tendrils and is a climbing
species. Brightly colored purple flowers are produced in a one-sided raceme from late
spring to mid summer. It is extensively planted in old fields as forage, and persists into
the winter.
