Sundrops -- Oenothera fruticosa
Family Onagraceae (Evening-Primrose family)
This beautiful native perennial is very closely related to the evening-primrose. Plants are
one to two feet in height, and produce very showy yellow flowers with twisted stamens
from May to July. It can be found along roadsides and in thickets, and sometimes around
old homesites, as this species was used extensively as an ornamental in years past. This
species is especially abundant along roadsides throughout LBL.
