Miterwort -- Mitella diphylla
Family Saxifragaceae (Saxifrage family)
Also referred to as "bishop's cap", the miterwort produces a single stem about one to two
feet in height which bears a number of small white flowers, which upon closer examination reveals
very small petals that resemble a snowflake. This species blooms in April and May and can be found
on wooded slopes.
