Leather-Flower -- Clematis viorna
Family Ranunculaceae (Buttercup family)
This strange vine produces very distinctive-looking flowers with extremely thick, leathery
sepals (hence the name) that are reddish-purple in color. This species can be found along
streams, at woodland borders and near ditches from mid-June to early July.
