Family Rubiaceae (Madder family)

There are six species of Houstonia that occur in this area, with this species as one of the most showy. Flowers are about 1/4 inch in diameter, white and funnel-shaped with four lobes and occur in large clusters. This plant is found in dry woodland areas in June and July.
