Heart-Leaved Skullcap -- Scutellaria ovata



Family Labiatae (Mint family)

Of the many species of skullcap present in Kentucky, this species can be differentiated by the heart-shaped leaves and the flowers which have a purple upper lobe and a white lower lobe. This species can be found in June in open woods and marginal areas.
