Doll's Eyes -- Actaea pachypoda



Family Ranunculaceae (Buttercup family)

Doll's eyes grows on stems 3-4 feet in height and appears in April and May, bearing a raceme of white flowers which are followed in the summer by curious-looking white berries, each with a single brown spot, which resemble eyes. This species is most common in moist woods and near limestone outcroppings.
