Star Chickweed -- Stellaria pubera

Family Caryophyllaceae (Pink family)

This species, which is very similar to the obnoxious common chickweed (a native of Europe), is actually native to our area, and is commonly found in rich woods from March to May. It can be distinguished from its invasive relative due to the large size of the flowers.
