Field Buttercup -- Ranunculus sardous
Family Ranunculaceae (Buttercup family)
This European species is a common spring wildflower in our region, often invading lawns
and parks. Plants grow 6 to 12 inches in height, and produce numerous bright yellow flowers
from April to May. This species can be especially troublesome where it becomes established.
