Bent Trillium -- Trillium flexipes
Family Liliaceae (Lily family)
This trillium can be distinguished from other species due to the flowers, which are usually nodding below the leaves, and are large, 1/2 to 2 inches in width. Most specimens are white, but may be maroon on occasion, but the ovary is always white. This species can be found in wooded areas in April.
