Arrowhead -- Sagittaria brevirostra
Family Alismataceae (Water-Plantain family)
Arrowhead is a wetland species that is quite common in our area; there
are several closely related species of this plant that occur here. The
common name arises from the large, arrow-shaped leaves. Flowers are produced
from June to August with fruit following in the autumn. The rhizomes of
this plant are edible.
